The solution of sodium methoxide in methanol is 25% by weight. Its interaction with unactivated aryl bromides in the presence of a copper catalyst has been examined under various reaction conditions. It produces arenes by reacting with aryl halides in the presence of a palladium catalyst in DMF (Dimethylformamide).

MnCl2 oxidation with concomitant NaOMe promoted aggregation yielded a unique high-spin hexanuclear Mn(III) cluster, [NaMn6(OMe)12(dbm)6]+.
In its ground state, this cluster features an unusual cyclic structure with 24 unpaired electrons.
The manufacture of NO-containing nanoparticles (SNO-NP) has used sodium methoxide solution.
