Protect against Salmonella with SwabSURE Salmonella Pk 100. Easy to use testing kit for quick and accurate results. Keep your food safe!
Loading...
SwabSURE Salmonella is a rapid, direct screening test for the presumptive detection of Salmonella spp. from food contact surfaces and manufacturing environments where regular disinfection or sanitisation occurs.
The test features an easy-to-read colour change system that visually indicates results, streamlining routine hygiene monitoring.
Each kit includes a breakpoint foam swab pre-moistened with TSC Neutralising Buffer, ensuring efficient sample transfer and optimal organism recovery. The system is ISO 18593:2018 compliant when used with a validated sampling template (e.g., TS/15-T40).
Target Detection
Salmonella spp., including strains relevant to food processing environments
Compatible with confirmatory testing protocols such as ISO 6579-1:2017 +A1:2020
Background Flora Suppression
The chromogenic media is formulated to suppress common competing organisms such as:
Bacillus spp.
Enterococcus spp.
Micrococcus spp.
Gram-negative species like Klebsiella spp., E. coli, and Pseudomonads
Note: Neutralising swabs are also available separately (see product TS/6-61BP250).
Recommended Use
Sampling of food contact and environmental surfaces
Food preparation areas, equipment, drains, floors, and other at-risk locations
Supports GMP compliance and HACCP-based hygiene control plans
Known Limitations & Considerations
Presumptive use only – all positive results must be confirmed with standard bacteriological or molecular methods.
Not intended for direct food contact. Swabs must be discarded after use.
Not validated for use on uncleaned surfaces – may yield false positives or unreadable results.
A negative result does not guarantee absence of Salmonella. Possible reasons:
Incomplete neutralisation of sanitising agents
Target organism count below detection threshold
Target cells are damaged or non-viable
False positives may occur due to high counts of competing organisms (e.g., Citrobacter spp.). This often indicates inadequate cleaning and should trigger a sanitation review.
Some rare Salmonella strains (e.g., S. arizonae) may not produce expected reactions and could be missed.
Cold storage may cause the SS-L03 media to thicken or gel. This is reversible and does not affect performance—simply allow the media to return to room temperature or incubate as normal.
